Prine Collection of Woodworking Planes
Ongoing
Third Floor
This collection of woodworking tools features regionally made planes dating from 1803 to 1875. Due to its role as an industrial center, early Pittsburgh was full of tradesmen who used these tools for boat-building, furniture-making and more.
The 239 planes on display were collected by Charles W. Prine, Jr., who researched their origins and makers in his book, Planemakers of Western Pennsylvania and Environs.
